Building Academic Language (Grades K-6)

Course Description

Do your students have the academic language needed to be successful in school?

Students don’t come to school knowing how to engage in academic discourse. We need to teach them. Jeff Zwiers shows how to help students develop the language skills critical to a successful academic career. Students with a strong grasp on academic language are better able to critically analyze and synthesize complex ideas, engage in academic discussions, and prepare for college and careers.

This course includes videos of authentic classroom practice, a coach to provide personalized feedback, and flexibility to engage with the content on your schedule.
